There are two physiotherapists working at Jan Kriel School. Services are provided to needy learners from Grade R to 12. Physiotherapy is aimed at developing motor skills such as balance and coordination. Physically disabled learners receive therapy that focuses on promoting independence and/or maintaining function. A new chapter in supporting learners with learning disabilities was recently written when the Jan Kriel Institute made its expertise and resources available to support Langerug School in Worcester with the establishment of a modern Alternative Assessment Centre. As Jan Kriel School celebrates its 90th anniversary next year, the school's influence and legacy continue to grow. Jan Kriel's annual Wine Auction was once again blessed with wines donated by more than 100 wine farms and individuals. The 160 guests were able to bid on 43 lots, generating an income for the learners of Jan Kriel School of more than R850 000 on the evening. Thanks to the generous contributions of Jan Kriel donors, the Institute was once again able to purchase another much needed bus for learner transport. Jan Kriel learners are very privileged to have 18 busses travelling as far as Atlantis. These busses transport more than 200 learners between their homes and school every day. Our Grade 1 learners enjoyed exploring culture outdoors in the beautiful sunny weather! Teacher Luzaan and our fantastic assistants in the foundation phase introduced the learners to a variety of musical instruments and showed them how each one is used. The learners had so much fun discovering the different sounds and getting to experience music in a hands-on way!
