Takunda is number 1 in SA!
Prestige through perseverance Takunda Muchuweni, Jan Kriel Schools’ Dux student of 2025, achieved 7 distinctions in her matric examination and was recently honoured as South Africa’s no.1 LSEN matriculant! Sun, Sports & Smiles
It was a hot but successful day at Jan Kriel’s annual in-house athletics day. The competition was extremely close, on and off the field. At the end of the day ELIM was awarded the Spirit Cup and WELTEVREDE won the Athletics Trophy, both clinching victory by narrow margins. Learner Council Camp
Our Learner Council recently attended an exciting and meaningful camp where learners had the opportunity to grow as leaders, build teamwork skills, and strengthen friendships. From fun activities and team-building exercises to important discussions about leadership and responsibility, the camp was a great success. Karel Kriel Scholarship
In honor of Karel Kriel, the oldest living descendant of Jan Kriel’s family, the family provides an annual scholarship to one Jan Kriel matric learner for further studies. This year, the Karel Kriel Scholarship was awarded to Matthew Sadoucas. He will be pursuing a Diploma in Business & Information Administration at CPUT. Best of luck Matthew! Learners tackle 2026
While celebrating with the matriculants of 2025 and their good results, Jan Kriel also welcomes 37 new learners. Grade 10 learners from Astra and Paarl Schools (both of which only offer up to Grade 9) and hearing-impaired learners from Carel du Toit School (which only offers up to Grade 3) find a place at Jan Kriel annually. The application process for learners in mainstream schools is time-consuming and subject to WCED procedures and that is why Jan Kriel is just as excited


Top Schools 2025
he Metro East District management visited the top schools of 2025, of which Jan Kriel School is one, and expressed their appreciation to every educator from Grade R to Grade 12 for their dedication and hard work with each learner. Hugs at Huis De Kuilen
In December, our Foundation Phase learners visited Huis De Kuilen Retirement Home. Our children sang Christmas carols for the grandmothers and grandfathers with pride and great excitement. Takunda shines bright
We are incredibly proud to share that Takunda Muchuweni, our 2025 Dux Learner, has been invited to the DBE Ministerial Matric Awards and has safely arrived in Randburg, Gauteng.
