As another academic year comes to an end, Jan Kriel looks back with appreciation at how much our learners have accomplished this year. With the help of our donors and supporters we can continue to support our learners in the coming year. On 16 October, we celebrated our Annual Prestige Evening, a night dedicated to recognising excellence, perseverance, and growth across all areas of school life. Wouter Smit's early years do not tell a friendly story. Due to his mother's drug and alcohol dependency, they moved around Gauteng without any stability. Wouter was never enrolled in Grade R and Grade 1 wasn’t much better - drifting between 3 different schools and also not completing the school year. Earlier in October the Grade 5 and Grade 6 learners attended a great fitness program, presented by a trainer. They learned more about teamwork, focus and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The learners really enjoyed participating in healthy competition, but also working together as a team! What an experience! On Saturday, our school's tug-of-war teams kicked off their first match of the season – and what a day full of teamwork, perseverance and enthusiasm it was!
